Deborah
Miller
Deborah Miller is an independent appraiser of
historic, vintage, and contemporary clothing and
textiles throughout the United States.
Ms. Miller received a certificate in Art and Antiques
Appraisal from the Rhode Island
School of Design. She holds an MA from The Bard
Graduate Center, NYC where she focused on textiles, including
a year of private study with Milton Sonday, curator
of textiles at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design
Museum.
Prior to her work as an appraiser, Ms. Miller
was the Director of Exhibitions at the Fiber Art
Center, Amherst, MA, mounting shows that ranged
from contemporary quilts and baskets to historic
Burmese textiles and avant-garde art fashion.
She was an exhibition researcher at the Toledo
Museum of Art, and spent three years as the manager
of Wilson & Gough, a contemporary design gallery,
in South Kensington, London.
Ms. Miller is a member of
the Costume Society of America and the Textile
Society of America. She is certified under
the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal
Practice of the Appraisal Foundation in
Washington, D.C. (USPAP)
